In June of 2016, I had the opportunity to intern at the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation which is one of India’s largest and oldest power utility.
While interning at the Southern Thermal Power Station in Kolkata, I learnt about the workings of a thermal power plant.
One of the reasons for me to intern here was because this was one of the few power generating stations in India that was not affected by the 2012 India Blackout. While at the generating station, I had the opportunity to learn about the various safety measures that were put in place to prevent the blackout from affecting this generating station.
